In Coventry, litter picking is important to us, and at Tom White we want to encourage our community to work together and make a visible difference where it matters most, because with the right voluntary action, Coventry can be kept clean by people like you.
And that is exactly what happened recently when our volunteers joined forces with Chat Central participants and the fantastic Wombles litter picking group for a community litter pick in Radford.
Despite the rain, people's spirits were high and the streets were thoroughly cleaned up, all because of our community.
So how does everyone help and how can you get involved?

Our Coventry litter picking group covered Bridgman Road, Hewitt Avenue and moved along to fill up Tomson Avenue, collecting a fantastic 17 bags of litter and three canisters along the way. They tackled the pavement all the way into the greenery, showing the positive impact that commitment and teamwork can have on the earth in just a few hours.
It was especially rewarding to see residents from our local community coming out to say hello and show appreciation for our efforts towards keeping their neighbourhood tidy. Showing that with a little voluntary action, Coventry can be a clean and comfortable place to live.
Our strong sense of community didn’t stop at the litter picking, however. Once the clean-up was done, the hard working volunteers were given hot drinks and a delicious treat from local cafe The Phat Bear after a soggy morning spent making a difference. Small gestures like this are what keeps the community going, highlighting just how important local businesses are when it comes to working together.
At Tom White, we believe that working with our community is the best way to make a positive change, which is why this Coventry litter picking effort was organised in partnership with Voluntary Action Coventry’s Chat Central project, who exist to strengthen the community and improve Coventry's quality of life.
Offering volunteering opportunities and community groups across the city to bring people together through these sessions, as well as all sorts of social activities to keep everyone in high spirits.
