Sherbourne Recycling Ltd is a forward-thinking partnership of eight local authorities in the West Midlands, established in 2021 to transform recycling across the region. Tasked with designing, developing, and operating a cutting-edge Materials Recycling Facility (MRF), Sherbourne Recycling manages kerbside recycling collections from its partner councils with a focus on operational excellence.
The long standing partnership required dependable logistics support aligned with key performance indicators. These focused on delivering operational reliability, strong communication, safety, compliance, and achieving FORS Silver accreditation, alongside driver behaviour management targets. Critical to success was the ability to provide flexible scheduling with capacity to scale during peak periods whilst maintaining strict adherence to daily haulage operations.
Tom White was selected for our ability and expertise in providing bespoke haulage solutions that aligned with Sherbourne Recycling's operational goals. Our flexible and collaborative approach allowed us to support the partnership effectively as it evolved, managing both inbound and outbound material flows to specified locations across the region.
During this project, we delivered comprehensive haulage and logistics services for all inbound and outbound materials from Sherbourne's MRF to onward destinations, supported by an onsite contracts manager who ensured day-to-day operational coordination and performance management. Our services included contract management support, rigorous safety compliance monitoring, and detailed data reporting to maintain transparency across multiple stakeholders.
Between April 2024 - March 2025 we have successfully transported 176,335 tonnes of material, demonstrating Tom White's capacity to handle large-scale logistics operations efficiently and reliably. Through strategic route optimisation and the introduction of backloading initiatives, we delivered measurable efficiency improvements that reduced both mileage and carbon footprint. Throughout the contract, we have maintained full compliance with all safety and environmental standards whilst fostering strong communication channels with Sherbourne Recycling's diverse stakeholder group.
