Introduction

Tom White waste Ltd is wholly owned by Coventry City Council. And is Warwicshire’s largest independent waste management company, offering waste management solutions to the public and industry. The company has more than 50 trucks catering for all aspects of waste management. 

Environmental performance

Tom White Waste Ltd is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards regarding its impact on the environment, including a commitment to continual improvement of the environmental management system to enhance environmental performance, by striving to reduce the volumes of waste entering landfill and protecting the environment. We segregate all waste to maximise the recovery of recyclable waste streams and reduce the environmental impact of waste processed.

We are committed to preventing our operations from causing pollution or nuisance to the local environment or stakeholder, to use sustainable resources for climate change mitigation and adaption and to reduce the impact on the environment of significant aspects of our operations. 

Legal compliance

Tom White Waste Ltd complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, including:

• Environment Agency Waste Management Licence.
• Vehicle and Operator Agency (VOSA)
• Health and safety regulations.

Legal compliance is confirmed by:

• Internal monitoring and measuring
• Internal audit
• External audit and inspection.

Objectives

To achieve these aims, objectives and targets are set at appropriate levels within the

organisation. These objectives are backed up by planned, realistic programmes of work.

Performance against objectives is reviewed regularly and the overall strategy is assessed at

the management review meetings.

Communications

This policy is communicated to all staff and visitors to the site. It is freely available for public

inspection on request.
